FRANCIS M.SMITH
Frank grew up in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Kansas State College in Manhattan, KS with a degree in Industrial Chemistry. Frank worked in Whiting, IN, for 6 years and moved his family west to the Tri-Cities in 1956. At Hanford he worked in emission spectroscopy, fission product chemistry, radioactive metallurgy, FFTF fuels, nuclear safeguards, and radioactive materials packaging and transportation. He retired in 1989 as a Principal Engineer. He was a relentless learner with an endless curiosity of figuring out how the world works. He strived to master the craftsman skills of the hobbies he tirelessly pursued throughout his life, especially after his retirement from Hanford. Frank considered himself a skilled bridge player; his bridge partner/wife said "Sure, some of the time". Friends and family are invited to an open house hosted by the family at their home in Pasco, Tuesday, June 26, 3:00-6:00pm. Be prepared to tell your favorite Frank Smith tall tales, true stories and anecdotes. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice. The family invites you to sign their online guestbook at www.muellersfuneralhomes.com |
